Called to live in the world, without a distinguishing sign, we journey in solidarity with the women and men of our time, conscious of the demands of the Church and the world.
We rejoice in this vocation that takes us through the highways and byways of this world, to meet varied cultures, to be close to those who are lost, helpless and shunned by society, ready to take initiatives that respond to material and spiritual distress.
We seek a communication with people that can lead to self-discovery, that encourages openness to others, thus leading us as a family united by the same loving Father. His invitation to manifest the creativity of our love for one another is boundless.
The challenge before us is great. We have to find our place in a globalised world, where wheels of power and dominance turn alongside circles of helplessness and repression. Such situations provoke division, conflict and violence which adversely affect the human heart. It is then that chaos unleashes itself bringing in it’s wake a sense of despair and death.
Conscious of being sent in the name of the Lord, we count on His grace to be steadfast in the face of challenges.
This supportive grace comes to us also through those who walk with us, creating networks of fraternal dialogue which give birth to hope and love: thus expressing “la joie de vivre”! To work together hand in hand is a strength and an encouragement; to be involved in the human and spiritual promotion of persons and people which means going beyond individualism, to sow in every milieu grains of peace and unity which bear fruit in time for the good of all.
A member of the Society of Daughters of the Heart of Mary, Ruth Pfau is honoured extensively for her humanitarian efforts.
Our sisters varied missions to the world have included being a praying presence, holding professional responsibilities (as trained practitioners of social work, teaching, nursing and other health care professions etc.), doing volunteer work alongside the laity and collaborating in faith formation in parishes.
With contemplative hearts we seek truth and promote peace.
